Salary supplement for part-time work
The right to a salary supplement for part-time work due to providing care for a child with disability and the most severe chronic illnesses can be exercised by one of the parents, provided both parents of the child are employed, covering for the part-time work and providing financial assistance to a family or a single parent who is employed.
- Target group:
The employed parent of a child with the following physical or intellectual disabilities and the most severe forms of chronic illnesses:
- completely blind or visually impaired child who, due to the extent of the sensory impairment, is not able to move and attend to its needs independently;
- with acquired and innate permanent impediments or damages to the locomotor system and forms of locomotor dysfunction, who can attend to its basic, biological and social needs only with permanent care and support of another person;
- severe and most severe mental development impairments;
- autism, characterized by qualitative impairment of reciprocal social interactions, nonverbal and verbal communication and imagination, and with limited activities and interests, or
- compound developmental impairments with presence of at least two or more types of developmental impediments
- Eligibility criteria:
The parent is employed and has a child with more severe physical or intellectual disability and the most severe forms of chronic illnesses.
- Amount of the benefit:
The salary supplement shall amount to 50% of the average net full-time salary of the parent paid in the preceding year, but up to 50% of the average net salary paid in the Republic of North Macedonia in the preceding year, as published by the State Statistical Office.
- Time limits for exercise and termination of the right:
The beneficiary shall notify the Social Work Centre about any changes affecting the loss of the right to salary supplement for part-time work due to provision of care for a child with disability and the most severe forms of chronic illnesses no later than 15 days upon the occurrence of such changes.

1. Birth certificate of the applicant;
2. Birth certificate of the child;
3. Decision of the employer on the exercise of the right to part-time work in accordance with the law
4. Decision on the establishment of permanent or fixed-term employed for parents, the single parent or the legal guardian
The Social Work Centre shall collect the required documents referred to in items 1 and 2 ex officio, while the required documents referred to in items 2 and 4 shall be furnished by the applicant for the right to salary supplement for part-time work due to provision of care for a child with disability and the most severe forms of chronic illnesses.
