Eligibility criteria

An elderly person who:

1. has nationality of the Republic of North Macedonia;

2. has permanent residence in the Republic of North Macedonia in the last 15 years prior to filing the application;

3. does not own property and property rights that could provide for his or her livelihood;

4. is not a beneficiary of pension benefit from the Republic of North Macedonia or in a form of remuneration on the grounds of old age or disability from a foreign country, and

5. has not realized income on any grounds in the last three months prior to filing the application.

Benefits

• The monthly amount of the social security benefit for the elderly is MKD 8.168 (eight thousand one hundred sixty-eight).

• Financial allowance to cover a portion of the expenses for energy in the household, for the period from October to March in the amount of MKD 1.362 (one thousand three hundred sixty-two) per month, adjusted to the increase of the costs of living in the preceding year, as published by the State Statistical Office in January for the current year.

• Right to healthcare

Required documents

1. Valid personal identity card of the citizen of the Republic of North Macedonia, personal identification card for permanent residence of a foreign national, personal identification card of a recognized refugee or a personal identification card for a person under subsidiary protection, which is only presented in order to prove the identity and the nationality;

2. Birth certificate;

3. Marriage certificate;

4. Death certificate;

5. Divorce judgment;

6. Certificate on annual income;

7. Certificate of title; 8. Certificate that the person does not own property;

9. Certificate on income realized on the grounds of salary in the Republic of North Macedonia or abroad;

10. Certificate that the person is not a beneficiary of a pension benefit in the Republic of North Macedonia or abroad;

11. Certificate on ownership of a registered motor vehicle (passenger motor vehicle, engine over 50 cc, van, bus, truck, combine and tractor);

12. Easement contract for agricultural land owned by the Republic of North Macedonia;

13. Bank certificate about savings deposits;

14. Certificate on ownership of securities issued by the Central Securities Depositary;

15. Certificate for the payment of military disability benefit;

16. Certificate for the payment of civil disability benefit;

17. Certificate of permanent residence in RNM in the last 15 years prior to filing the application.

A person exercising the right to old age pension shall not be eligible for guaranteed minimum assistance.
